At the start of the week that marks the 70th anniversary of Adolf Hitler’s death on the 30 April, writers Jonathan Mayo and Emma Craigie will be at Calcot Manor to present ‘Hitler’s Last Day: Minute by Minute’.
Jonathan and Emma will talk about their collaboration on this pure chronological narrative, as seen through the eyes of those who were there in the bunker, those waiting for news back home, or fighting in the streets of Germany, or pacing the corridors of power in Washington, London and Moscow.
The third in Jonathan Mayo’s Minute by Minute series, ‘Hitler’s Last Day’ follows his widely-praised titles on D-Day and the death of JFK. Having edited the previous Minute by Minute books, Emma Craigie teams up with Jonathan once more.
Jonathan joined the BBC in 1987, first working in radio and then television, where he won awards for his documentaries. He lives in Surrey with his wife and son. Writer and teacher, Emma is the author of Chocolate Cake with Hitler and Who Was… King Henry VIII. She lives in Somerset with her husband and four children.
Tickets: £29.50 per head. Includes a two-course lunch and a glass of wine. Guests are invited to arrive from 12:00 noon with lunch served at 12:30pm.
